Is Your Brand Visible Where AI Answers?

Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews before they ever open a list of links, and most brands have no idea whether those answers mention them, recommend a competitor, or skip the category entirely. Enter your brand and we'll run real buyer-style prompts against all four platforms and show you exactly where you stand, platform by platform.

You'll see mention counts, whether you're merely named or actually cited as the source, and which competitors are taking the answers you should own. Free, self-serve, and readable without a sales call.

Why this matters now

AI answers are a search channel you can't see into, unless you measure it

When a buyer asks an AI assistant "who's the best option for X," the assistant gives one answer, or a shortlist of three, not ten blue links. Either you're in that answer or you're not, and nothing in your analytics tells you which. Rank trackers watch positions; nothing in a standard SEO stack watches what generated answers actually say about you. That's the blind spot this checker exists to close.

The shortlist replaced the results page

An AI answer names a handful of brands and moves on. There is no "page two" to claw back from. If the model doesn't associate your brand with the category, you're simply absent from the conversation where the decision starts.

Google rank doesn't transfer automatically

Each AI platform builds its answers from its own training data, retrieval sources, and citation preferences. A category leader in classic search can be an afterthought in ChatGPT, and a smaller competitor with better-structured content can own the answer instead.

You can't fix what you haven't measured

GEO work without a baseline is guesswork. A per-platform, per-prompt snapshot tells you which platforms need work, which topics trigger competitor citations, and whether anything you changed later actually moved the needle.

What you get back

A clear visibility score, platform by platform

We run 40 real, buyer-style prompts, not templated queries, then check whether each AI platform mentions your brand, what topics trigger the mention, whether the tone is positive or neutral, and which competitors get cited instead. We're explicit about the method because most "AI visibility" tools hide behind a black-box score with no explanation of what it actually measured.

We also separate mentioned (your brand named in passing) from cited as a source (a direct link or clear recommendation). The second is worth far more, and a flat mention count alone hides the difference. The same report flags the domains and pages cited alongside you, and includes a short "platform fingerprint": how each AI actually describes your brand in its own words, useful intel for where your GEO and link building effort should focus next.

Platform fingerprint (illustrative)

Prompt: "who's a reliable roofer in [city]?"

ChatGPT's answer: Lists two competitors by name with brief descriptions; Acme Roofing Co. doesn't appear.

Google AI Overview's answer: Cites Acme Roofing Co. directly, quoting a specific line from their "24-hour storm response" service page, a page that ranks organically and has schema markup, unlike the pages ChatGPT is pulling from instead.

Inside the report

Every section of the report, and why it's there

No black-box score. Each part of the report exists to answer one specific question you'd otherwise be guessing at.

Per-platform mention counts

How many of the 40 prompts produced a response naming your brand, broken out for ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity separately, because an average across four very different systems hides exactly the information you need.

Mentioned vs. cited as a source

The split between passing name-drops and genuine citations: a link to your site or a clear recommendation. This is the single most important distinction in the report, and the one flat "AI visibility scores" erase.

Competitor citations

Which competitors appear in the answers you don't, on which prompts, and which of their domains and pages the platforms cite. This doubles as a target list, since the sources AI already trusts in your category are where your authority effort should aim.

Topic and tone context

What kinds of questions trigger your mentions, and whether the framing is positive, neutral, or hedged. Being mentioned only for one narrow topic, or with caveats attached, is a different problem than not being mentioned at all.

Your platform fingerprint

Short excerpts of how each AI actually describes your brand in its own words. If a platform describes you inaccurately or generically, that's a content and entity-clarity problem you can fix, once you can see it.

A next-step recommendation

One clear, plain-language recommendation based on the pattern in your results, not a menu of upsells. Sometimes the honest answer is "your visibility is solid, re-check quarterly."

Sound familiar?

Why brands run this check

These are the sentences we hear right before someone runs their first report, usually from teams whose classic SEO is in good shape and who assumed that would carry over. Every one of them describes something measurable, which is the whole point of the tool: turning a nagging suspicion into a per-platform number you can act on.

"ChatGPT recommends competitors, never us."

The report shows exactly which prompts trigger competitor recommendations, which competitors win them, and what sources the model is drawing on: the starting map for taking those answers back.

"We rank #1 on Google but AI answers skip us."

Classic rankings and AI citations are different systems. A page can own the blue links and still never be quoted inside a generated answer. The per-platform breakdown makes that gap visible instead of theoretical.

"We have no idea which platforms even know we exist."

Four platforms, four different training sets, four different answers about your brand. The checker tests each one separately so you stop guessing which ones need work first.

"Leads keep saying 'I asked ChatGPT about you first.'"

If buyers are pre-qualifying you through AI assistants, what those assistants say is part of your funnel, and the platform fingerprint shows you the actual words they use to describe you.

"An AI answer described us inaccurately, and we can't tell how often."

One bad answer you saw by chance usually means more you haven't. Running the same 40 prompts across all four platforms turns an anecdote into a measured picture of tone and accuracy.

"We bought an 'AI visibility score' and can't tell what it measured."

A single black-box number is unfixable by definition. This report shows the prompts, the per-platform counts, and the mentioned-vs-cited split, so every weak spot maps to an action.

How it works

From brand name to full report in four steps

No dashboard to learn, no trial to cancel: one form, one report.

01

Enter Your Brand

Type your brand name the way customers would actually say it. It works for companies, products, or personal brands. Adding your website is optional, but it helps us distinguish citations of your domain from passing name-drops.

02

We Run Real Prompts

40 search-derived, buyer-style prompts are run against ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, questions phrased the way a real customer researches, not a template with your brand name swapped in.

03

Mentions Are Scored

Each response is checked for your brand, the context it appeared in, whether it was merely mentioned or cited as a source, and which competitors showed up instead, scored per platform so the gaps are obvious.

A full visibility report lands in your inbox within minutes: per-platform mention counts, the mentioned-vs-cited split, competitor citations, your platform fingerprint, and a clear next-step recommendation.

What this tool is not: read before you run it

It's a snapshot, not a permanent record. AI platforms are non-deterministic. The same prompt can produce slightly different answers on different days, in different regions, or for different users. Your report reflects the run we performed, which is exactly why we recommend monthly re-checks over treating any single number as gospel.

It's not a rank tracker. There is no "position 3 in ChatGPT" ranking. Generated answers don't work that way, and any tool claiming to track one is measuring something it invented. We count mentions and citations because those are the units AI answers actually deal in.

And it's not a sales trap. The report is complete on its own; the recommendation at the end is one paragraph, not a locked section that opens after a call. If your visibility is healthy, the report will say so.

Making sense of it

Four patterns your results usually fall into

Most reports land in one of these shapes. Knowing which one you're looking at tells you what kind of work, if any, comes next.

Strong in AI Overviews, weak everywhere else

The most common pattern for brands with solid classic SEO. Google's AI Overviews lean heavily on pages that already rank, so your organic strength carries over there, but ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity draw on different sources, and your absence from them means your authority footprint outside your own site is thin. That's typically an off-site and entity problem, not an on-page one.

Mentioned often, cited almost never

The platforms know you exist. You show up in lists and comparisons, but they don't link to you or recommend you as the answer. This usually means your content isn't structured as the kind of direct, extractable answer AI systems prefer to cite. It's the most fixable pattern on this list, because the awareness half of the battle is already won.

Invisible across all four platforms

Sobering, but the clearest starting point, and the exact position the SaaS brand in the case study below started from. The work is foundational: entity clarity, structured content that answers category questions directly, and presence on the third-party sources each platform already trusts. Progress is measurable from the first re-check.

Visible, but described wrong

Your mention counts look fine, but the fingerprint shows platforms describing you inaccurately: the wrong specialty, an outdated positioning, a discontinued product. Frequency isn't the issue; the information the models hold about you is. Correcting the sources they learn from is the fix, and the fingerprint tells you what to correct.

Common questions

AI Visibility Checker, answered

How is this different from the Free SEO & AI Audit?+
This tool is a fast, self-serve check focused specifically on AI-platform brand mentions. The Free SEO & AI Audit is a deeper, consultative review covering technical SEO, content, and AI visibility together.
Which AI platforms do you check?+
ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity: the four platforms covered across our AI Search Hub.
What if my visibility score is low?+
A low score is common and fixable. Your report includes a recommendation, and our GEO and AEO services are built specifically to close that gap.
What counts as a "mention" vs. being recommended or cited as a source?+
A mention is your brand named anywhere in the response. A citation is the platform linking to or clearly recommending you as the answer. We report both separately because a mention buried in a list is worth far less than being the cited source.
How many prompts do you run, and are they real queries or templates?+
40 buyer-style prompts per report, written the way a real customer would ask, not a generic template repeated with your brand name swapped in.
Why would ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity disagree about my brand?+
Each platform trains on different data, weighs sources differently, and updates on its own schedule. It's normal to be well-cited on one and invisible on another. The per-platform breakdown shows exactly where the gap is.
Does a low score mean a technical problem or a content problem?+
Could be either: if AI crawlers can't access or parse your site, that's a technical SEO issue. If crawlers can read the site but your content doesn't clearly answer the questions people ask, that's a content and structure gap our GEO/AEO work addresses.
How is this different from ranking in Google?+
Classic rankings measure position in a list of blue links. AI visibility measures whether your brand gets named or cited inside a generated answer: a page can rank well in Google and still be invisible to ChatGPT or Perplexity, or vice versa.
How often should I re-check my score?+
Monthly is reasonable for most brands, since AI models update on different schedules and your visibility can shift without any change on your end.
